Page 1 of 1 <br /> <br />CONSENT ITEM – 7F <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br /> DATE: September 28, 2020 <br /> <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Councilmembers <br /> Dave Perrault, City Administrator <br /> <br />FROM: Todd Blomstrom, Public Works Director/City Engineer <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Revisions to the Snowplowing, Snow Removal and Ice Control Policy <br /> <br /> Budgeted Amount: Actual Amount: Funding Source: <br /> N/A N/A Street Maintenance Budget <br /> <br /> <br />Council Should Consider <br /> <br />The City Council is requested to consider approval of recommended revisions to the City’s <br />Snowplowing, Snow Removal and Ice Control Policy. <br /> <br />Background/Discussion <br /> <br />Public Works Department staff recently reviewed the City’s Snowplowing, Snow Removal and Ice <br />Control Policy in preparation for the upcoming winter season and identified recommended minor <br />revisions to the policy as provided in Attachment A. The primary changes to the policy document <br />are related to repair of mailbox damage. The proposed revisions within Section 9 are added to <br />provide consistency with state guidelines regarding mailbox installations within public right of <br />way. A reimbursement provision is included to address current city practice regarding <br />compensation to property owners who wish to repair mailbox damage caused by direct contact <br />from a City plow. <br />Budget Impact <br />The proposed revisions to the policy would not result in changes to current winter snow and ice <br />control operations or practices, and should not result in changes to anticipated expenses. <br /> <br />Attachments <br />Attachment A: Proposed Revisions to Snowplowing, Snow Removal and Ice Control Policy <br />
