Page 1 of 2 <br />NEW BUSINESS – 9A <br />MEMORANDUM <br />DATE: October 12, 2012 <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Councilmembers <br />Dave Perrault, City Administrator <br />FROM:Mike Mrosla, Community Development Manager/City Planner <br />SUBJECT: Extending the Application Submittal Period for Small Business Emergency <br />Assistance Grant Program <br />Budgeted Amount: Actual Amount: Funding Source: <br />N/A $150,000 CARES Act <br />Council Should Consider <br />A motion to adopt resolution 2020-049 extending the application submittal period for the Small <br />Business Emergency Assistance Grant Program in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. <br />Background <br />At its September 28meeting, the City Council adopted resolution 2020-046 removing the minimum <br />employment criteria and reopening the application window for the Small Business Emergency <br />Assistance Grant Program starting Tuesday, September 29 through Tuesday, October 6, 2020. Staff <br />received four (4) new applications during the recent application period. During the duration of the <br />program staff has received 22 applications. Staff has also been contacted by two (2) business that <br />would like to apply following the closing of the recent application period. Should Council want to <br />extend the application window till Friday, October 23, 2020 to allow for additional time for <br />businesses to apply for the grant a resolution has been provided for consideration. If approved, staff <br />will promote the extension through emails, the website, social media and site visits. Social <br />distancing and face coverings are worn during site visits. <br />Next Steps <br />At the second City Council meeting in October a New Business discussion item about offering <br />additional funding to previously awarded grantees should funding be available. <br />Budget Impact <br />The city had made available $150,000 from the CARES Act Funds for the proposed Small Business <br />Emergency Assistance Grant Program. <br />Council shall consider <br />The following are motion language options for the City Council to consider.
