Page 1 of 2 <br /> <br />CONSENT ITEM – 6E <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />DATE: November 9, 2020 <br /> <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Councilmembers <br /> Dave Perrault, City Administrator <br /> <br />FROM: Mike Mrosla, Community Development Manager/City Planner <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Resolution Authorizing the Application for Recycling SCORE Grant Funds from <br />Ramsey County for 2021 <br /> <br /> Budgeted Amount: Actual Amount: Funding Source: <br /> NA NA NA <br /> <br />Council Should Consider <br />Approving Resolution 2020-055 Authorizing the Application for Recycling SCORE Grant Funds <br />from Ramsey County for 2021. <br />Background/Discussion <br />The City is eligible to apply for grant money from Ramsey County’s recycling SCORE grant <br />program for 2021. Grant funds can be used to offset the cost of the City’s recycling program, <br />including administration, equipment, and collection costs. In the past, the City has primarily used <br />the funds to offset collection costs and the annual spring and fall community Cleanup Day costs. <br />The County requires a resolution from the City Council to authorize the application for the <br />SCORE grant. <br />The 2020 grant allocation for Arden Hills will be communicated in the SCORE Agreement that <br />will be sent to the City after the application deadline of October 30, 2020. It is expected that the <br />City will be eligible for approximately $24,842. <br />The City annually budgets for increases in the recycling budget. Proposed 2021 recycling fees <br />will on a upcoming City Council agenda for approval. The budget for the City’s recycling <br />program in 2020 was $177,950.00. The $24,842 in SCORE grant money offset approximately <br />13.9% of the base cost of the residential recycling program.
