A clear majority of residents supported a <br />minimum distance from other properties required for chicken coops, minimum cleanliness <br />standards for chicken coops, and the maximum or minimum size of coops and run area allowed <br />for residential properties. Roughly half of all respondents indicated that they supported a <br />requirement for a city-issued permit, screening for chicken coops or a run area, and restrictions <br />for the location on a property where chickens can be housed. <br /> <br />Discussion: <br /> <br />Staff is looking for Council direction of when to hold a public hearing and the format to use. <br /> <br />1. Upon review of the survey results would Council like hold a standalone public <br />hearing? Y/N. <br /> <br />Note – The City Council did discuss this at their October work session and at that <br />time the Council determined to hold the necessary public hearings during the <br />approval process at Planning Commission and City Council. <br /> <br />a. If yes, when does Council want to hold a public hearing? <br /> <br />2. Upon review of the survey results would Council like staff to start drafting ordinance <br />language? Y/N <br /> <br />a.
