Bac kyard Chic kens Survey
14 / 81
among neighbors.
111 Safety and c are of chickens is neglected by people who s imply want a hobby.10/15/2020 4:00 PM
112 none of t he above apply - pleas e see my prev ious statement 10/15/2020 3:58 PM
113 smell 10/15/2020 3:36 PM
114 ban roos ters and Im fine with it 10/15/2020 3:22 PM
115 Just another way in which some owners of animals that can't or won't leash pets & would allow
chic k ens to roam and do their "bus iness " on people's property other than their own. Leaving
someone els e and not the owners t o c lean up after them. Also, nature ty pe animals suc h as
deer, rabbits, wild turk eys, racoons and gees e are enough. Eggs are quit e inexpens ive at the
groc ery stores.
10/15/2020 2:19 PM
116 I do not s ee a negativ e 10/15/2020 1:49 PM
117 They would create is s ues between neighbors 10/15/2020 11:52 AM
118 our lots are not t hat large; the c hicken coops would be too close to t he lot lines 10/15/2020 11:00 AM
119 There is very little compliance in our neighborhood regarding leash laws for dogs . Most dogs
are off leash on neighborhood s treets and on the trails as well. I don't hav e much fait h that
chic k en ordinances would be followed any more clos ely. Sad, but true.
10/15/2020 10:32 AM
120 No reason 10/15/2020 9:37 AM
121 I think they s hould be allowed 10/15/2020 7:18 AM
122 None 10/15/2020 6:33 AM
123 no c oncerns 10/15/2020 5:14 AM
124 We hav e domes tic ated, licensed pets that would be at greater risk of predat ors with the
attraction of chickens . If res idents want farm t o fork proteins or produce, there are plenty of
hobby farms, farmers mark ets and whole food distributors in t he metro area. If k ids want
experienc e with c aring of farm animals, explore options at the U, t he Gilbert Farm or Dodge
Nature Center.
10/14/2020 10:56 PM
125 If allowed to run wild they would get into neighbors yards. They might att rac t fox , rac coons and
other predators .
10/14/2020 9:57 PM
126 NA - I want c hic k ens!10/14/2020 9:25 PM
127 I think they s hould be allowed.10/14/2020 9:12 PM
128 Chicken coops can get v ery dirt y if not c leaned. Many people hav e wonderful ideas about
keeping c hickens but have no idea about the t rue care & commitment they c an be. My
concern about hav ing chic k ens in a urban area would be 1) coyotes & fox es c oming into y ard
that aren't fully fenc ed & then people complaining about coyotes trying to eat their chic k ens or
dogs. Coyot es & fox es are wild & jus t trying to surviv e -- we've encroached on their habitat and
now raising c hic k ens to entice them 2) roos ters -- c ode would hav e to s pell out absolutely no
roos ters 3) What will people do with the chickens once they no longer lay eggs? Many people
who wnat to rais e c hickens are s eem to think they would another family pet & wouldn not eat
them (lik e this farm girl did). How many chickens can one keep or will people violate this with
too many chic k ens in their c oop?
10/14/2020 8:28 PM
129 I don't see any of t he above as s erious concerns for anyone who has invest ed time and money
in raising c hick ens , espec ially when t here are appropriat e guidelines outlined by the city.
10/14/2020 7:00 PM
130 Dec rease value of surrounding property, decrease ability to sell s urrounding property 10/14/2020 6:47 PM
131 If y ou want to raise chic k ens, live on land des ignated or zoned as farmland.10/14/2020 6:26 PM
132 Odors 10/14/2020 6:21 PM
133 There is no reas on 10/14/2020 6:20 PM
134 I am not against.10/14/2020 6:09 PM
135 We moved t o Arden Hills Nov ember 2019 to get away from this in St. Paul.
