I.e. Distanc e away from
house or patio, but at the bac k of a large y ard as long as it is on the property it can be near the
lot line.
10/12/2020 11:16 AM
106 let people do whatev er they want! It's their property.10/12/2020 9:43 AM
107 There s hould be a max imum number of chickens identified.10/7/2020 4:49 PM
108 number of c hick ens allowed based on lot s ize 10/7/2020 3:47 PM
109 Fencing required and annual fees.10/7/2020 3:30 PM
110 Max number of chickens to 6 or 8 within city limits .10/7/2020 10:21 AM
111 I think that t he rule about distance from property lines is too res tric tiv e. A lot of people don’t
have 400 feet or ev en 200 f eet to s pare between them and the next property line. It should be
a muc h short er dis tanc e, such as the ten feet that are ac ceptable in other c ities.
10/7/2020 10:10 AM
112 Quantity of c hickens relativ e to lot siz e 10/7/2020 8:48 AM
113 Coops should be required to be 5 feet from their own home.10/6/2020 11:36 PM
114 Strict fencing rules. Payment of fees to help defray enforc ement costs. Number of c hickens
should be limited to two or less. Getting neighbor permission needs to be carefully cons idered
to avoid problems between neighbors . Perhaps near-by neighbors should be s ent a form and it
should be returned to City Hall so objec tions c an be given but the person wanting chickens
does not know who has objec ted (like when res idents alert the City t o c omplaints ). Also
neighbors a leas t four homes away and surrounding neighbors front and bac k (perhaps within a
certain number of feet ) should be c ontac ted. Chic ken cluc k ing is noisy and people don’t like to
hear it. Admittedly dogs are also nois y, but they are ac c epted for many years in res idential
environments. Chic k ens s hould be limited to farm c ommunities.
10/6/2020 9:03 AM
115 Dis tanc e from buildings. In our neighborhood we hav e very awkward lot lines and many people
have extra lots next door. I wouldn’t see any issue wit h a coop being say 10 ft from a lot line
as long as it’s open land and not next to someone’s house. I also see no issue with c hickens
in the front yard as long as the coop is s heltered by a screen or bus hes . Again, s ev eral of our
neighbors hav e very little bac k y ards but very large and s pac ious f ront yards. I t is important
that the c hickens hav e the optimal land to liv e on (sunny and dry, not s wampy ground).
10/6/2020 8:29 AM
116 Limit number of hens.10/6/2020 8:02 AM
117 All of t he above. Also, not really look ing for the spread of any disease either. Let’s keep
chic k ens on the farms. That’s the beas t plac e for them.
10/5/2020 9:27 PM
118 Max # of laying hens per household, no roosters , maybe decrease s etback requirements 10/5/2020 8:48 PM
119 I gues s I would approv e of a 10' distance from the lot line, like you have for sheds. Probably
we should have a maximum siz e for the coop and run area so we don't feel lik e there is a farm
next door, but I don't know what that s ize s hould be. This s hould be for fun and eggs , not a
commercial operation.
10/5/2020 7:08 PM
120 As long as t he s tructures are on the owners property i dont think the c ity needs to worry about
it.
10/5/2020 5:24 PM
121 Contingency plans for when a neighbor pet kills a chicken 10/5/2020 4:13 PM
122 None 10/5/2020 3:35 PM
123 No res tric tions, we are adults and should be treated as suc h.10/5/2020 3:26 PM
