the pond where the banks are steeper, this section could remain as road shoulder (as stated in
point #2 above) with extra safety precautions put in place.
4. Leverage the existing footprint of the road and consider shifting the driving parts of the road a
few feet such that one shoulder is a bit narrower and the other side of the road is wider. This
could mitigate or reduce widening the road to accommodate a trail and instead utilize the
overall width of the space. This option could reduce the overall cost of the project.
5. Overall safety measures such as rumble strips, flashing lights for pedestrians, dedicated cross-
walks, speed flash signs, bright white paint for the shoulder, and reduced speed limits are all
additional measures that could be taken at relatively low cost to improve safety in this stretch of
road.

I strongly urge the City Council to dedicate time to a public comment meeting where residents can pose
questions and discuss this project with our councilmembers.

In summary, this investment to the community needs to be made to allow for Arden Hills residents a
safe and beautiful trail to enjoy the scenic views that we all appreciate and value. Please do not hesitate
to reach out if you have any questions. I look forward to continuing to monitor the progress on the trail.

Sincerely,

Amy Hoffmann
