Installation of a grinder type station and force main ($253,000)
Option 1 was chosen to move forward with as it was the most feasible solution at the lowest cost.
Budget Impact

The 2021 - 2025 Capital Improvement Program shows a budget of $180,000 for this
rehabilitation project, which was previously increased from $100,000. Within the technical
memo supplied by Bolton & Menk on October 8, 2020 (Attachment B), this work had an
estimated cost of $223,000 as seen in the table below.

Now that the final plans and specifications have been developed, the most recent engineer’s
estimate is $290,000. The engineer believes this estimate is a bit strong but they’ve been seeing
prices go up for equipment so they’ve included some inflationary costs. Design and Construction
Administration fees for Bolton & Menk are $49,400. Total estimated project cost is $339,400
which will need to be covered by the Sewer Fund. The additional funds needed of $159,400 will
need to be factored in when creating the 2022-2026 CIP plan and determining the 2022 Sewer
rates. Attachment D shows what was included in the 2021-2025 CIP for the Sewer Fund.

Attachments

Attachment A: Project Plans
Attachment B: Technical memorandum
Attachment C: Resolution 2021-027
Attachment D: Excerpts from 2021-2025 CIP for Sewer Fund
