By October, her readings were back to more normal usage amounts. She asked that the meter be checked to see if it was faulty. Public Works went out and put in a new meter on October 27, 2020. The old meter went in for testing and the results indicate a deviation of less than 1 percent over the range of residential flow rates, which means it is okay. By August, there were sometimes 12 hour stretches with usage over 200 gallons per hour. These high usage amounts started dropping off during the beginning of September. No leak or tamper flags were noted on this meter. Budget Impact Estimated cost to repair our old collector is $1,300. Estimated initial cost to upgrade Read Center is $3,000. Staff is moving forward with both items which will be funded from the Water Utility Fund. Staff is seeking direction on the utility bill disputes. If Council opts to reduce any part of a utility bill, the Water and Sewer Utility Funds would bear the cost.
