Summary of Proposed Language Amendments <br />•Two year license requirement for the keeping of chickens. <br />•Limitation on number of chickens allowed –maximum 3 hens, roosters prohibited. <br />•Insertion of size limitations for coop, pen, and exercise yard –coop shall be 12 to 25 sq. ft., <br />pen minimum 10 sq. ft. per bird, and exercise yard minimum 174 sq. ft. per bird. <br />•Notification for Neighbor Consent –Initiated by licensee and neighbor responses returned to <br />City. <br />•Spacing and screening requirements between adjacent parcels and the area dedicated to <br />chickens –closer to principal dwelling than adjacent property, 6 ft. tall perimeter screening of <br />solid fence or vegetation. <br />•Exemption for an allowance of a third accessory structure with a single car detached garage. <br />•Penalty and removal language for violations and/or discontinuance of chickens.
