SUMMARY ORDINANCE NO. 2021-008 CITY OF ARDEN HILLS RAMSEY COUNTY, MINNESOTA AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 4, ANIMALS AND PETS, SECTIONS 400 and 410; AND CHAPTER 1325, ZONING CODE, SECTION 1325, OF THE ARDEN HILLS CITY CODE NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that, on September 27, 2021, Ordinance No. 2021-008 was adopted by the City Council of the City of Arden Hills, Minnesota. NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that, because of the lengthy nature of Ordinance No. 2021- 008, the following summary of the ordinance has been prepared for publication. NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that the ordinance adopted by the City Council provides for regulations related to the keeping of backyard chickens with in the City of Arden Hills. The ordinance adopted includes the following: FURTHER, the Ordinance requires the following: • provides additional definitions to Section 400; • requires licensing for all chickens within the City of Arden Hills; • sets forth the regulations, procedures and fees for licensing; • adds performance standards such as no more than 3 chickens shall be housed or kept on any one residential lot; • requirements of a coop for housing the chickens, not housed in a residential dwelling or detached garage; • the minimum requirements and standards for the construction of the coop, the required exercise yard, and the maintenance of the subject premise to be kept clean so as not to attract rodents and control odors; • violations of conditions housing chickens.
