Page 1 <br /> <br />DATE: September 27, 2021 <br /> <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Councilmembers <br /> <br />FROM: Dave Perrault, City Administrator <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Convention and Tourism Bureau Agreement with Minnesota Metro North <br />Tourism <br /> <br />Budgeted Amount: Actual Amount: Funding Source: <br />N/A N/A N/A <br /> Council Should Consider <br /> Motions to approve, table, or deny the following: <br /> <br />• Convention and Tourism Bureau Agreement with Minnesota Metro North Tourism (DBA <br />Twin Cities Gateway) <br /> <br />All items need a simple majority for action unless otherwise noted. <br /> Discussion <br /> The City Council received a presentation from the Minnesota Metro North Tourism, or Twin Cities <br />Gateway, at their August 9th City Council meeting. The tourism bureau promotes tourism to attract <br />new residents, a strong workforce, new business and new development to the City. By joining this <br />organization, Arden Hills’ businesses and attractions will be included in the bureau’s marketing <br />materials and campaigns. Following approval of this agreement, minor updates to the City’s current <br />hotel/lodging tax ordinance will also be brought forward for approval. This agreement will have an <br />effective date of January 1, 2022. The two hotels that would be affected by this change have been <br />contacted, and both are supportive of moving this forward. <br /> <br />Budget Impact <br /> <br />The City will expect a small increase in revenue from the administrative fees associated with this <br />agreement. <br /> Attachment <br /> <br />Attachment A: Convention and Tourism Bureau Agreement with Minnesota Metro North Tourism. <br />CONSENT ITEM – 6C <br /> MEMORANDUM <br />
