Page 1

DATE: October 11, 2021

TO: Honorable Mayor and City Councilmembers

FROM: Dave Perrault, City Administrator

SUBJECT: Additional Comp Time Hours for Union Employees

Budgeted Amount: Actual Amount: Funding Source:
N/A N/A N/A
Council Should Consider

Motions to approve, table, or deny the following:

• An additional sixteen hours of comp time for Union Employees to be used between December
1, 2021 and March 31, 2022.

All items need a simple majority for action unless otherwise noted.
Discussion
The City Council discussed providing the Union Employees, or the Public Works Maintenance
Workers, an additional sixteen hours of comp time in recognition of their front-line employee status
during the on-going COVID pandemic. These additional hours are to be used between December 1,
2021 and March 31, 2022. Should an employee fail to use these hours they will lose them. The
additional sixteen hours will not count towards their annual comp time cap of eighty hours.
Following this approval, Finance will make the necessary adjustments in the payroll system.

Budget Impact

There is a possibility of an increase in overtime costs if the absence of an employee(s) on any
given day causes another to incur additional hours.
Attachment
N/A

CONSENT ITEM – 6B
MEMORANDUM
