Public Works Director / City Engineer <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Karth Lake Runoff Control Project – Payment No. 1 and Change Orders No. 1, 2 <br />& 3 <br /> <br />Budgeted Amount: Actual Amount: Funding Sources: <br /> $180,000 $162,334.58 Surface Water Fund (50%) <br /> RCWD Grant (50%) <br /> <br />Council Should Consider <br />Motions to approve, table, or deny the following: <br /> <br />• Change Orders No. 1, 2, & 3 for the Karth Lake Runoff Control Project in the amount of <br />$8,841.45 <br />• Payment No. 1 for the Karth Lake Runoff Control Project in the amount of $127,409.20 <br />to Pember Companies, Inc. <br /> <br />All items need a simple majority for action unless otherwise noted. <br /> <br />Discussion <br />On March 23, 2020, the City Council approved a grant agreement with the Rice Creek <br />Watershed District for the Karth Lake Runoff Control project. The purpose of this project is to <br />address excessive erosion near the south end of Karth Lake caused by runoff from adjacent land <br />uses. The grant agreement provides 50% funding from RCWD for the project, up to a maximum <br />amount of $90,000. <br /> <br />On April 12, 2021 the City Council awarded the construction contract to Pember Companies, <br />Inc. Since then Pember Companies has substantially completed the project. The new inlet <br />structure, storm sewer pipe and graded swale along the slope has been constructed and the site <br />has been fully restored. <br /> <br />During construction there were 3 Change Orders for a total of $8,841.45, these change orders are <br />summarized in Attachment B. <br />CONSENT ITEM – 7O <br /> <br /> <br /> MEMORANDUM <br />
