City of Arden Hills ▪1245 West Highway 96 ▪ Arden Hills Minnesota 55112 Phone 651.792.7800 ▪ Fax 651.634.5137 ▪ www.cityofardenhills.org October 12, 2021 Keith Hansen and Maria Montserrat Meiro-Lorenzo 3301 Pennsy Drive Landover, MD 20785 Re: City Code Violation at 1465 Floral Drive W – PID #223023330001 ABATEMENT NOTICE Dear Property Owners: On August 17, 2021, the City of Arden Hills investigated a complaint and determined the vegetation growing in your rear yard is in violation of Chapter 6 – Nuisances and Offenses of the Arden Hills City Code. On September 13, 2021, the City of Arden Hills completed a follow up investigation and found that the property was still in violation of the ordinance listed below. A third investigation was completed on September 27, 2021. At this time, City Staff still found the property to be in violation of the City Code. VIOLATION:  Second 602.02 – Public Nuisances Affecting Health states “The following are hereby declared to be nuisances affecting health… Subd. 6. All noxious weeds and other growths of vegetation upon public or private property in excess of eight (8) inches.” CORRECTION:  Cut or remove the current vegetation growth to below the maximum allowed height of eight (8) inches. Please take the necessary corrective action by the close of the business day on October 19, 2021 to remediate the above violation. If the violation is not remediated by the required date, the City will order abatement as allowed under Section 602.05, General Abatement Procedure, of the Arden Hills City Code as this is considered an ongoing violation of this regulation. If the corrective action has not been taken by the required date, the City Council will hold a hearing at 7:00 pm on October 25, 2021, at Arden Hills City Hall, 1245 West Highway 96. You have the right to appear at that hearing. At that meeting, the Council can order the abatement of the above described nuisance. An abatement order allows the City to have the necessary work completed to remediate the nuisance and charge 125 percent of the cost of the work, including administrative costs, back to the property owner. The charges can be certified against the property taxes for collection if they are unpaid.
