Page 1 <br /> <br />DATE: October 25, 2021 <br /> <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Councilmembers <br /> <br />FROM: Dave Perrault, City Administrator <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Ordinance 2021-010 Amending Hotel/Lodging Tax Language and Publication of <br />Summary Ordinance <br /> <br />Budgeted Amount: Actual Amount: Funding Source: <br />N/A N/A N/A <br /> Council Should Consider <br /> Motions to approve, table, or deny the following: <br /> <br />• Ordinance 2021-010 Amending Hotel/Lodging Tax Language <br />• Publication of Summary Ordinance Language <br /> <br />Publication of Summary Ordinance requires a 4/5th’s vote <br /> Discussion <br /> The City Council entered into an agreement with the Twin Cities Gateway Visitor Bureau to <br />implement a hotel/lodging tax on hotel rooms beginning in 2022; the City’s two hotels were <br />consulted prior to entering into this agreement and both were supportive. This tax is a pass through to <br />the visitor’s bureau and is used to market and promote activities in the City. The City already had <br />language regarding the hotel/lodging tax written into the City Code, however, the City Attorney <br />recommended cleaning up the language prior to the tax commencing.
