Page 1 of 1 <br /> <br />DATE: October 25, 2021 <br /> <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Councilmembers <br /> <br />FROM: Dave Perrault, City Administrator <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Republic Recycling Contract Extension <br /> <br />Budgeted Amount: Estimated Amount: Funding Source: <br />N/A N/A N/A <br /> <br />Council Should Consider Motions to approve, table, or deny the following: <br /> <br />• Authorizing the City Administrator, Mayor, and/or City Attorney to enter into a <br />contract extension with Republic Services from May 3, 2022 to May 2, 2023. <br /> <br />All items need a simple majority for action unless otherwise noted. <br /> <br />Background Republic Services has been the City’s recycling hauler since 2015. The existing contract <br />(Attachment A) is very favorable for the city and is set to expire in May 3, 2022. The City <br />Council discussed this contract in 2020, and directed Staff to continue to bring the extensions <br />forward for approval; the Council inquired if the City could approve a multi-year extension, as <br />the contract is written we can only approve it annually. The City has the opportunity to extend <br />the contact two (2) more times after this extension. The existing terms and conditions of the <br />contract will continue to apply with any extension. <br /> <br />Budget Impact The proposed one (1) year extension will continue to utilize the fee structure as previously <br />approved in the currently approved contract.
