Concept Review Narrative
At the Northern Lights Bingo Hall and Brightside Café we provide a captivating experience for
every person who comes through our doors.
Our Story:
Julie Standering, along with hardworking partners, purchased the Bingo Hall on October
31st, 2020, with the goal of creating a safe, clean, and enjoyable environment for all bingo
players throughout the local community.
Julie Standering grew up in Southern California and graduated from the University of
Arizona. There, she was a member of the Arizona Wildcat Softball team where she won a
National Championship. After her time in Arizona, Julie was the Head Softball Coach at the
University of Minnesota from 1991-2010. Since then, Julie has lived in Roseville for 30 years
and has gained tremendous pride in the Roseville community. Julie is currently the Head Softball
Coach at Roseville High School. Beyond softball, Julie is a highly successful businesswoman.
With the recognition of the elderly community in the local area along with the movement
of young families becoming residence in the Roseville area Julie saw a need to care for these
communities by opening a Café within the Bingo Hall. For our seniors, time at Northern Lights
Bingo Hall is some of their only social time; and we want to provide an opportunity where they
can have amazing food, a glass of wine and play Bingo with the community they have built here.
Someday we would love to add an outdoor Farmer’s Market, again drawing people to our Bingo
Hall as well as our amazing community, which would only add to the entire experience for
populations we would like to reach.
During this season of planning for the possibility of a liquor license, Julie and her
administrative staff have surveyed loyal customers regarding alcohol and have received very
positive feedback overall. Some of the considerations we have taken into account are: two drink
limit per person, happy hour times, strict cut off times, and added security. The Northern Lights
Bingo Hall respects the responsibility that comes with a liquor license. We are committed to our
