DATE: January 10, 2022 <br /> <br />TO: Mayor Grant and City Councilmembers <br />Dave Perrault, City Administrator <br /> <br />FROM: Julie Hanson, City Clerk <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Appointment of David Radziej to City Council <br /> <br /> <br />Council Should Consider <br /> <br />Motions to approve, table, or deny the following: <br /> <br />• Appointing David Radziej to the City Council for a term ending December 31, 2022. <br /> <br />All items need a simple majority for action unless otherwise noted. <br /> <br />Background/Discussion <br /> <br />Due to the passing of Councilmember Dave McClung on December 1, 2021, a vacancy exists on <br />the City Council that needs to be filled by Council appointment until an election is held. <br /> <br />At the Council’s direction, staff solicited and received applications through December 29, 2021. <br />Ten (10) applications were received. The City Council conducted interviews on January 4 and <br />January 5, 2022. The City Council interviewed all ten (10) applicants and following discussion <br />on January 5, 2022, it was the consensus of the Council to appoint David Radziej to the vacant <br />seat. This appointment will expire on December 31, 2022. <br /> <br />In addition, since more than two years remain in the unexpired term, under state law the seat will <br />be up for re-election in November 2022 for a special two-year term.
