Due to concerns about COVID, that presentation
was recorded by NineNorth and distributed electronically to residents. Prior to 2020, the Council
was trying to move the State of the City towards the beginning of the year, but as COVID hit the
State of the City was pushed back in 2020 and 2021. Should Council want to do the State of the
City in early summer, Staff would need to get moving on planning and preparing drafts for
Council. Staff needs direction on the below questions:

• Does Council want to have the State of the City in early summer (this would set the stage
for having it earlier in subsequent years, too)?
o If so, we would suggest June 21st or June 23rd. This will be subject to location,
Council availability, etc.
o If we can pick a date, we can also put out save the date reminders in the
newsletter, on the website, etc.
• Does Council have a preference on site selection? In the past, Boston Scientific, Land O’
Lakes, and the Marsden Room were discussed as venues; we have previously hosted it at
Flaherty’s and the Tavern Grill.
• Does Council want two separate events (i.e. a morning and a night event)?
o If so, what are the logistics behind these? i.e. at City Hall for one and offsite for
another?
