Public Works Director / City Engineer SUBJECT: Spring Lake Park Lions Club Donation Discussion <br /> <br />Budgeted Amount: Actual Amount: Funding Source: <br />N/A $10,000.00 Spring Lake Park Lions Club <br /> For Council Consideration <br /> <br />Council should discuss how they would like to use the funds donated by the Spring Lake Park <br />Lions Club. <br /> <br />Background <br /> <br />The Spring Lake Park Lions Club contacted City Staff in January about donating funds to be <br />used for Parks and Recreation. On March 14, 2022, through Resolution 2022-010, the City <br />Council accepted the donation in the amount of $10,000. On March 21, 2022, this item was <br />brought to Council at the Work Session for initial discussion of how to use the donation. The <br />Spring Lake Park Lions Club aims to help those in need within the community through various <br />fundraising activities. They are active in the Arden Hills’ community and wanted to see these <br />funds used to help the Parks and Recreation department. <br /> <br />Staff was directed to inquire the PTRC for input, below is a list of their ideas: <br />• Swinging bench at Cummings Park <br />• New Basketball hoops <br />• Pickleball lines and/or nets <br />• Wood chips and/or boards on trails at the Chatham loop <br />• Applied to Special Events for no fees for participants (e.g. Educational opportunities) <br /> <br />Attachment A is the Arden Hills Foundation Wish List that was created and shared with Council <br />last year at a previous meeting. <br /> <br />Staff also researched a couple options of shade structures for Perry Dog Park, see Attachment B. <br />The quotes received were for an 18’ x 18’ four-post structure and a 16’ x 16’ cantilever post <br />structure. (The cantilever image shown is 20’ x 36’) Each quote includes a concrete pad.
