Page 1 of 1 <br /> <br /> <br />CONSENT ITEM – 6B <br /> <br /> MEMORANDUM <br /> <br /> <br />DATE: June 27, 2022 <br /> <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Councilmembers <br /> Dave Perrault, City Administrator <br /> <br />FROM: Julie Hanson, Assistant to the City Administrator/City Clerk <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Resolution 2022-035 Approving Charitable Gambling License Renewals <br /> <br />Budgeted Amount: Actual Amount: Funding Source: <br /> N/A N/A N/A <br /> <br /> <br />Council Should Consider <br />Motions to approve, table or deny the following: <br /> <br />• Resolution 2022-035 Approving Charitable Gambling License Renewals for Chops, Inc. <br />at Flaherty’s Arden Bowl; Spring Lake Park Lions at Welsch’s Big 10 Tavern; and <br />Minnesota Fastpitch Academy at Northern Lights Bingo. <br /> <br />All items need a simple majority for action unless otherwise noted. <br /> <br />Background <br />Chops, Inc., Spring Lake Park Lions, and Minnesota Fastpitch Academy have submitted an <br />application and all necessary supporting documents in order to renew their charitable gambling <br />license with the City at the above-referenced locations (current licenses expire on June 30, 2022). <br />Licenses are valid for two years. <br /> <br />According to the terms of the application, 10% of the net profits are to be contributed to the City <br />of Arden Hills to a special fund administered by the City Council; and they will also pay a Local <br />Gambling Tax of 3% of their gross receipts (less prizes paid out) to the City to cover expenses <br />incurred for regulating gambling activity. <br /> <br />These organizations have been regularly submitting their loss/profit information to the City <br />without issue for their current licenses and staff recommends the Council consider approving the <br />license renewals. <br /> <br />Attachment: <br />Attachment A: Resolution 2022-035
