Public Works Director / City Engineer SUBJECT: Spring Lake Park Lions Club Donation Budgeted Amount: Actual Amount: Funding Source: $N/A $ 13,307.48 Spring Lake Park Lions Club, Parks Fund Council Should Consider Motions to approve, table, or deny the following: • Purchase of shelter/shade structures for the Perry Dog Park in the amount of $13,307.48 All items need a simple majority for action unless otherwise noted. Background/Discussion The Spring Lake Park Lions Club contacted City Staff in January about donating funds to be used for Parks and Recreation. On March 14, 2022, through Resolution 2022-010, the City Council accepted the donation in the amount of $10,000. The Spring Lake Park Lions Club aims to help those in need within the community through various fundraising activities. They are active in the Arden Hills’ community and wanted to see these funds used to help the Parks and Recreation department. On June 20, 2022, this item was brought to Council at the Work Session for discussion of how to use the donation. Council directed staff to move forward with purchases the two shade structures shown in Attachment A. The supplier has indicated the production lead time is 15-17 weeks. Budget Impact The quote for purchasing the two shade structures can be reviewed in Attachment B. The total amount with shipping costs is $13,307.48. This total does not include the plaques or the concrete material needed to pour the footings. Public Works will perform the installation. Any costs over the $10,000 donated will be funded by the Parks Fund. Attachments Attachment A: Shade structures Attachment B: Quote
