MINUTES <br /> CITY OF ARDEN HILLS, MINNESOTA <br /> PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br /> TUESDAY, OCTOBER 27, 1998 <br /> 7:00 P.M. <br /> 1. Call to Order <br /> Vice-Chair Anita Larson called the meeting to order at 7:04 p.m. Chair Kreidler arrived at 7:15 <br /> p.m. <br /> Roll Call <br /> Present were Lynette Kreidler, Jim Johnson, Dorothy McClung, Don Messerly, Megan Ricke, <br /> Rich Straumann, Lou Speggen, Anita Larson, Tracy Petersen, Susan Keim and Brian Fritsinger. <br /> 2. Approve Minutes <br /> Minutes from September 26, 1998, meeting were approved by Dorothy McClung and seconded <br /> by Megan Ricke. The minutes were passed unanimously. <br /> 3. Council Report <br /> A. NSP has agreed to put transmitter wired underground along the Hamline Avenue area. <br /> B. The Quad Ice Arena had its Grand Opening on Saturday, October 24, 1998. The <br /> Minnesota Amateur Sports Commission is doing a lot of community programming for the <br /> arena as well as offering ample and convenient open skate times. There are still some ice <br /> time priority issues that need to be worked out between the Hockey Associations and <br /> high school teams. <br /> 4. Bethel College Ballfield Developm n <br /> Bethel College has completed a traffic study of the site. The study has recommended <br /> signalization of Old Highway 10 by the entrance to Bethel. Bethel, to this date, has not <br /> completed a concept plan for the proposed site. The commission agreed that we should continue <br /> our involvement with Bethel on this development. <br /> 4A. Other <br /> A. City Administrator Fritsinger indicated that work on Tony Schmidt Park will not begin <br /> until 1999. <br /> B. Parks and Recreation Director Position <br /> City Administrator Fritsinger reviewed with the commission that Cindy Walsh's position <br /> has changed recently to include duties in the Community Development area. He <br /> mentioned that this position, as it currently stands, is not marketable and was intended for <br /> obMs. Walsh's skill set.
