CITY OF ARDEN HILLS
• MEMORANDUM
DATE: March 19, 1998
TO: Parks and Recreation Commission Report
FROM: Cindy S. Walsh, Parks and Recreation Director ,/'/
SUBJECT: March Agenda Report
Cross-walk Striping Discussion
A representative from the Public Works Commission will be in attendance to discuss why the
Public Safety Commission does not recommend that cross-walk areas (over streets) that connect
two trails need to be striped for safety. The Parks and Recreation Commission and staff
previously discussed the importance of striping for safety reasons. Having the street striped,
provides a warning to vehicles that there may be pedestrians or bikers crossing the street. I am
not aware of any cities that do not stripe cross-walk areas.
as within the City str ed. There are
I recommend that the we have all of the cross-walk are Y p
currently eight areas within the City that are striped on an annual basis. We contract with
• Ramsey County to have the striping done.
Trail and Park Comprehensive Plan
Thank you to all of you who took the time to attend the general planning session on March 18.
Kathy O'Connell will be in attendance to continue our discussions regarding future park and trail
planning. I have enclosed a map for your review. Please bring this with you to the meeting.
Renaming Lindey's Triangle Park
The City Council has asked the Commission to discuss possible names make a recommendation.
I have had the following names submitted to me:
Arden Meadows
Arden Greens
Arden Yard
Don Stecker Park (owned the Wagon Wheel restaurant before Lindey's was there)
Wagon Wheel Park
Joseph Hackney Park (former State Senator who once owned this property)
Arden Farms (area used to be a farm)
Please discuss these name or other options and make a recommendation.
