CITY OF ARDEN HILLS
• MEMORANDUM
DATE: January 22, 1998
TO: Parks and Recreation Commission
FROM: Cindy S. Walsh, Parks and Recreation Director
SUBJECT: January Agenda Report
Park Fund Spending,Plan
The Commission has discussed the possibility of developing a plan to spend down the Park
Fund. The Commission has asked that Mayor Probst attend a meeting to further discuss this
possibility. He has agreed to be in attendance at this meeting.
Comprehensive Plan for Parks and Trails
The City is in the process of updating it's Comprehensive Plan. A portion of this relates to the
parks and trails. The consultant firm of MFRA has been hired by the City to assist in developing
this plan. I have met with them several times to discuss ideas for trail connections. There will be
a representative from the firm at our meeting to get some feedback from the Commission on
• several issues. There are trail maps included in your packet. Please take time to look at these
and come to the meeting prepared to give feedback.
Ramsey County Rice Creek Corridor
The County has a plan to construct a trail along the Rice Creed-Corridor. A portion of this is
located in Arden Hills (in the TCAAP property). The City Council approved this plan in
concept. The County will have to come back to the City when the property becomes available. I
just wanted to inform the Commission of this issue since it is parks related. I will bring a copy
of the material that has been provided to the City.
Tony Schmidt Redevelopment Plan
The Task Force has completed their meetings. Ramsey County met with the City Council at
their work session on January 20 to review the plan. Jim Johnson, the Commission
representative, can give a summary of the plan. I will have a black and white copy available at
the meeting.
•
