Currently, the Public • <br /> Safety Commission does not support the striping. Ms. Walsh will ask a member of the <br /> Commission to come to one of the meetings. <br /> The Commission discussed Hazelnut Soccer field. The Commission thought that some signage <br /> saying "you cannot use the field unless you have a permit or it's for City use" should be put in <br /> place to prevent adult groups from using the field. It is meant to be a youth field only. <br /> GATEWAY GARDENS <br /> The Commission agreed that a unifying theme would be appropriate. The Commission <br /> discussed the idea of improving the quality of the gardens to include perennials, bushes, shrubs, <br /> and a variety of flowers entries into our City should be our main gateways. Perhaps, the <br /> Commission can pick up ideas from the gateways that go in on the corner of Highway 96 and <br /> 35W for the rest of the flower gardens in the City. Ms. Walsh will work with Don Messerly <br /> and others who are interested in designing the gardens. <br /> TASK FORCE UPDATES <br /> Highway 96 <br /> Don Messerly presented the task force's recommendations concerning Highway 96. This <br /> recommendation will be made to the Council on December 10, 1997. The task force has • <br /> recommended the following for Highway 96: <br /> • Median be grass with irrigation system and flowers. <br /> • No noise walls. <br /> • Possible burms by Arden Manor Park area. <br /> • Lighting every 300 feet on north and south. <br /> • 10 Foot trail on the south side of Highway 96. <br /> • No sidewalks on the north side at this time. <br /> • No trail as planned by the County for the 35W area, safety issues need to be worked out. <br /> The task force also presented a conceptual drawing of Gateway Signage. These two (2) <br /> gateways would be on southwest and northwest corners of Highway 96. The Gateway Signage <br /> would include the following: <br /> • Stone exterior with black lettering <br /> • Anti Graffiti coating <br /> • Evergreens (from TCAAP) <br /> • Perennials and annuals <br /> • Lights <br /> Don Messerly mentioned the addition of a logo was still under discussion. <br /> • <br />
