Buckley, Parks Director <br /> SUBJECT: Proposed Program Supervisor Position <br /> -------------------------------------------------------------------------- <br /> -------------------------------------------------------------------------- <br /> The new Program Supervisor position is a major -step in demonstrating to <br /> Arden Hills' residents and neighboring communities that the Mayor and <br /> Council are firmly committed to improving the "quality of living" of Arden <br /> Hills' citizens through program growth and high standards of excellence. <br /> The present youth and adult programs are a sound basis for new program <br /> development. <br /> PROPOSED PROGRAM EXPANSION WITH PROGRAM SUPERVISOR <br /> During the 1989 season the NYSCA Coaches Training Program was used in <br /> training the T-ball and youth softball volunteer coaches. The NYSCA is <br /> . currently co-sponsoring a nationwide campaign with the national <br /> PTA' s/PTO' s in promoting "Yes to Better Sports for Kids" The goal is to <br /> have all. voutn volunteer coaches trained with NYSAC programs. <br /> TOP PRIORITY <br /> Promote "Yes to Better Sports for Kids" in Arden Hills by <br /> -contacting with Valentine Hills PTO and Island Lake PTO <br /> -Contacting Board of Directors of Lake Region Hockey Assn. , Little <br /> Lakes Little League, the North Suburban Soccer Association, Babe <br /> Ruth Baseball Association, Mounds View Football Assn. , and the <br /> Mounds View Mustangs Basketball Assn. <br /> Assist in training volunteer coaches for these youth athletic assns. <br /> TOP PRIORITY <br /> Jr. High/High School Program Focus. Promote: <br /> -Teen sports, softball, broomball, etc. <br /> -Special events, ski trips, vacation outings. <br /> -Jr. leader progrm (training youth leaders) . <br /> -United States Athletic Association Drug Education Program. <br /> TOP PRIORITY <br /> • Increase creative programming in the fine arts field for elementary, Jr. <br /> High and Sr. High children. <br />
