• NETWORKING PROGRAMS <br /> A number of programs can be co-sponsored with local agencies and <br /> neighboring park and rec. departments, such as: <br /> Ramsey County Library (story telling, dramatics) ; Ramsey County Naturalist <br /> (programs in Tony Schmidt Park) ; Roseville Parks Naturalist (program in <br /> Crepeau Park and Chatham nature area) ; Mounds View, Shoreview and <br /> Roseville Parks Dept, (team tennis, softball and volleyball) . <br /> Adaptive Recreation Program (co-sponsored with Mounds View, New Brighton <br /> and Shoreview) : Friday Nite Live (adaptive Rec. Teen club); Saturday Club <br /> (adaptive rec. for elementary youth) ; adaptive sports programs such as <br /> bowling, aquatics, track & field "special olympics". <br /> Communication and Publication: <br /> -weekly riews arLicles and phoLos in Bulietin and Focus. <br /> -Take advantage of public access cable channel for publi.c:izing <br /> programs, films and program activities for public viewing. <br /> PARKS AND RECREATION DIRECTOR <br /> NEW OBJECTIVES/EXPANDED RESPONSIBILITIES <br /> CITY-WIDE BEAUTIFICATION EMPHASIS <br /> • Continue and expand the yard beautification/landscaping neighborhood <br /> recognition program. <br /> Recruit volunteers/neighborhood garden clubs to: <br /> -plant and maintain flower beds in neighborhood parks. <br /> -plant and maintain flower beds at "gateways" to City. <br /> -plant flowers at additional City busy intersections. <br /> Become actively <br /> ely involved with North Suburban Chamber and Arden Hills <br /> merchant groups. <br /> Upgrade and beautify City business district, expand Arbor Day celebration <br /> by recruiting scouts and other youth clubs and families to plant trees and <br /> care for neighborhood parks. "Plant a tree campaign" - have free <br /> seedlings available for all families in the City to plant in yard. Plan <br /> City-wide/state-wide Earth Week (celebration and environmental awareness <br /> program) . Promote July 4th Olympic Torch Run. Promote Fall Festival <br /> celebration. Promote Recreation/Wellness Activities with Arden Hills <br /> companies/businesses (employee softball, volleyball basketball, walking) . <br /> ARSENAL ATHLETIC FIELD COMPLEX <br /> The Army has placed the athletic field complex on "hold" until <br /> environmental problems can be cleared un. This complex is of major <br /> importance for future City programs. Continued efforts should be made <br /> • with Ramsey County Parks Dept. and the three neighboring communities to <br /> secure this property. <br />
