CITY OF ARDEN MIS <br /> • M]a4CP-ANIDUM <br /> DATE: June 17, 1992 <br /> TO: Arden Hills Park & Recreation Committee <br /> FRC4: John Buckley, Parks & Recreation Director <br /> Cindy Severtson, Program Supervisor <br /> SUBJECT: June Monthly Meeting <br /> There is no pressing business for comittee consideration, therefore, <br /> the June 23, 1992 meeting has been cancelled. Next scheduled meeting <br /> will be July 28, 1992. <br /> Committee Report: <br /> CUMMINGS TRAIL, has been conpleted without any problems. The trail looks <br /> great. It is a major addition to the City's trail system. <br /> COUNTY ROAD E BANNERS have been installed this week. They are very <br /> attractive and add warmth and color to the "Downtown" area. <br /> • FLOWER GARDENS have been planted and are beginning to come into full <br /> bloom. Volunteers have been assigned to maintain the gardens for the <br /> su mler. <br /> PROGRAM REPORT <br /> T-ball and softball seasons are in full swing this summer. There are <br /> 145 kindergarten, 1st & 2nd graders playing t-ball and 163 3rd-12th <br /> graders playing softball. Of the 163, 25 of them are playing on girl's <br /> fastpitch teams. This is the first year Arden Hills has offered <br /> fastpitch. We have traveling teams made up of Shoreview and Arden Hills <br /> girls in the 18 & under, 16 & under, and 14 & under catagories. <br /> Sumner playgrounds have started this week, despite the poor weather. <br /> The playground programs are held at Cummings, Floral, Hazelnut, Perry, <br /> and Arden Manor Parks. There are 81 children, ages 4-6 participating in <br /> the morning program and 84 children ages 7 & up in the afternoon <br /> sessions. This makes for a total of 165 participants, which is up from <br /> last years 132 participants. <br /> Additional programs which have started this week and continue through <br /> the summer include golf, tennis (youth, adult, & team) , ball skills, <br /> soccer, and gymnastics. Swimming, keyboard, fishing, ceramics, and <br /> acting will be held beginning in July. <br /> Youth Safety Camp will be offered as a joint program with Shoreview and <br /> Arden Hills Park & Rec. , Lake Johanna Fire Department, and Ramsey County <br /> Sheriff's Department. The camp will be August 18 & 19, from 7:30 a.m. - <br /> 5:30 p.m. , for children ages 9-11 years old. A variety of safety <br />
