• MINUTES OF THE ARDEN HILLS PARKS & RECREATION COMMITTEE <br /> TUESDAY, MARCH 23, 1993, 7:30 P.M. , CITY HALL <br /> CALL TO ORDER: <br /> The meeting was called to order at 7:36 by Chair David Sand. <br /> ROLL CALL: <br /> Present: Chair David Sand, Bill Guelker, Megan Ricke <br /> Also Present: Council Liason, Dennis Probst; Cindy Severtson - <br /> Project Director; Ed. Newsletter, Kate Huebsch; City Administrator, <br /> Dorothy Person. <br /> INTRODUCTION OF KATE HUEBSCH: (426-4012) <br /> We discussed new Newsletter - It was requested that non-resident <br /> user fee be better explained. <br /> INTRODUCTION OF DOROTHY PERSON: <br /> Ms. Person explained to us the city council' s action on John <br /> Buckley' s early retirement on 3/12/93 . The issue of his <br /> replacement was discussed. Members expressed concern about not <br /> • filling the position in the near future. Dorothy Person gave us a <br /> handout outlining how in the short term the city plans to handle <br /> the void. <br /> Dennis Probst explained the council ' s position on filling the void. <br /> There is a uncertainty regarding the Arsenal property and we don't <br /> want to hurry into a replacement. The retirement was unplanned. <br /> John Buckley' s job description will be mailed to committee members <br /> with the minutes. <br /> COUNCIL REPORT: <br /> The big news was John Buckley' s leave of absence. There was a lot <br /> of discussion concerning the diseased tree program. Many <br /> communities have discontinued their programs but Arden Hills wishes <br /> to proceed with this program. There were 129 diseased trees last <br /> year. T. C.A.A.P. discussions have continued to progress. <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES: <br /> Minutes of the 2/23/93 meeting were approved as mailed. <br /> TENNIS COURTS: <br /> Cindy Severtson continues to work with J. Ostlund on coordinating <br /> an agreement for use of tennis courts. We need the agreement <br /> • before we recommend to the city that the Indgerson Tennis Court <br /> money be donated to Mounds View School District. Construction is <br />
