Hazelnut Park, Planting Proposal, Area #1 <br /> 18 th June 2022 <br /> OVERVIEW <br /> In the section of Hazelnut Park that lies between the southern entrance (off Prior Ave.) and the tennis <br /> courts, I propose that we add more native plant species. Most notably, it would involve replacing the <br /> section of sparse grass that lies between the trail and the woods with an assortment of relatively-short <br /> native grasses and sedges that are better adapted to the shady conditions, along with a mix of <br /> shade-loving flowers. <br /> GOALS <br /> 1. Improve the appearance of this area with flowers that bloom from spring through fall. <br /> 2. Improve wildlife habitat by providing: <br /> a. Pollen & nectar sources for pollinators <br /> b.
