Establish a parkway system which will connect the <br /> various neighborhoods and segments of the Community. <br /> 2. Improve the visual image of the parkway route by: <br /> a. improving the definition of roadways and park- <br /> ing areas; <br /> b. redesigning cross-section of roadway, if <br /> feasible; <br /> C. eliminating excess paved areas ; <br /> d. screening objectional facilities and views; <br /> e. eliminating overhead utilities; and <br /> f. intensely landscaping boulevard areas along <br /> the roadway. <br /> • 3. Maximize the exposure to the Community's natural <br /> amenities--lakes, woods, interesting topography, <br /> and parks. <br /> 4. Preserve and enhance desirable views and vistas . <br /> 5. Identify and enhance major entrances to the City. <br /> 6. Provide for the safe and efficient movement of <br /> automobile traffic. <br /> 7. Provide safe movement of bicycles and pedestrians <br /> in an attractive environment, preferably separated <br /> from automobiles. <br /> DEFINITION OF <br /> PARKWAY: An elongated or ribbon park featuring a roadway for <br /> non-commercial traffic, which. connects parks , monuments, <br /> and major recreation areas and provides an apportunity <br /> for a safe and pleasant driving experience.
