Members
were impressed with the large mature oaks and natural beauty of
the area . The proposed plan for developing nature paths and
wild flower areas throughout the park is an appropriate and
desirable use of the area .
• Don Messerly is willing to check with consultants regarding the
planning and development of wild flower areas . Some residents
have expressed an interest in donating some flowers from their
gardens for Crepeau Park . The next appropriate time for planting
wild flowers is Mid-September to October 1st . Otto moved ,
seconded by Messerly , that some "native" flowers be purchased at
that time for planting ; $ 1 , 500 is budgeted in 1984 for Crepeau
Park development . Motion carried unanimously .
Messerly is also going to check with the Rice Creek Watershed
District regarding the possibility of raising the water level of
one of the ponding areas to provide an area for marsh flowers
and water fowl .
Messerly is also interested in organizing a bird watching club
for interested residents .
Charlie Tooker Report
The Committee ' s discussion of the Tooker report centered in
three areas :
Programs for Seniors
Presently all seniors programs at the Edgewood Community
Center are available to residents . Additional effort should
be made to provide leisure activities such as hiking clubs ,
trips , bird watching and other possible activities for seniors .
Interest Survey
An interest survey should be developed and mailed to Village
residents ; the results would help in determining future
programs and park development .
