y
ARDEN HILLS PARK AND RECREATION
• SUMMER PLAYGROUND EVALUATION
1984
Cheryl Madson
Program Supervisor
This years summer playground program ran from June 18 - July 27. Two days,
June 14 and 15 were given to staff orientation. At this time the staff became
acquainted with one another and with the goals and objectives of the Arden Hills
Park Program. Our staff consisted of four playground leaders and one program
supervisor. Luba Buhajenko, Robyn Dordell , Nate Robinson and John Tucker were
the leaders and I was the supervisor.
PROGRAM
The summer playground program was held consistently at Floral Park, Valentine
Hills School and Hazelnut Park. Programs at Arden Manor Park and Ingerson Park c
were discontinued after the first week due to lack of participation. To replace
the 2 programs we initiated a program one afternoon a week at Hunter's Park and
Bethel Seminary. Due to a large turn out at Floral Park on T/Th A.M. we started
inar Y
a M/W program to distribute the children at Floral in a better leader/child ratio.
The leaders worked in pairs and I helped at Floral on T/Th A.M.
In the mornings from 9: 30 - 11 :30, each pair worked with the Tiny Tots which
ranged in age from 4-6 years old. The morning activities included a craft, games,
and free play time on the equipment. The afternoon session ran from 1 :00 - 4:00
and was for older children, arils 7-12. Each afternnon included a craft and games
of all kinds. A special event was planned to liven up each week.
This is an outline of the summer program schedule:
Mon. Tues. Wed.
