Buckley and Chair Anderson welcomed all new
and old members to the Parks Committee . All introduced them-
selves and described their particular interests and concerns in
park development.
Cummings Parer. Concept Plans
At the November $0, 1981 Parks Committee meeting, Planner Orlyn
• Miller had presented various concept plans for development of
Cummings Park to the Committee . After reviewing and discussing
all options, Committee had unanimously recommended that Concept
Plan 3 be recommended to Council for approval , with grading, seed-
ing and bail fields hopefully done in 1982 . At this meeting,
Miller presented Concept Plan 3 Indicating location of ball fields,
hockey areas, plantings, other use areas desired by the Committee .
He also presented an alternate concept, which would place the
smaller of the two ball fields at the north end of the park, and
move tennis court, picnic area; etc . to Control Data side of the
park . (Concern had been expressed about neighborhood nuisance
If tennis courts were located in north end . ) Miller explained that
the plan chosen would be the master plan for future development;
grading of the entire area to be developed would take place this
summer. In the alternate concept plan, grading would be somewhat
mor3 expensive, parking less accessible. However, some Committee
members felt the smaller bail field would then become more of a
neighborhood flefd tan advantage) and some ;aciilties desirable
for Contro Data employees mor« accessible to them. There Was some
feeling that league play on larger field would discourage
neighborhood use of smaller field if they were adjacent .
After leng•('-hy discussion , it was moved by t) . Halva, seconded by
C. Grudnosko, that Committee rjaffirm the choice of Concept Plan 3
as discussed Nov,.,-:mbar 10 to the Council , Motion carriers ,
• unan €mous l v .
