Minutes of Regular Parks and Recreation Committee Meeting <br /> • Village of Auden Hills <br /> February 9, 1982 <br /> V119age Hal ➢ <br /> Cali to Order <br /> The meeting was called to order at 7 :05 p .m. by Chair Anderson . <br /> Roll Call <br /> Present : A. Anderson , M. Bergene, J . Dreyling , D. Halva , <br /> D. Kostishack, J . McTavish, D. Sand <br /> Absent : C . Grudnoske, P . Lippert, M. Olson, T. Sather , M. Wild <br /> Also Present : Councilman D. McAllister <br /> Parks Director J . T. Buckley <br /> Approximately 40 Cummings Park Area Residents <br /> Netahborhood Hearings Cummings_ Park Concept Plan <br /> Buckley opened the meeting with a welcome to visitors , and general <br /> discussion of the history and philosophy of development of Arden <br /> HI ➢ ls parks. Chair Anderson then reviewed the concept plans for <br /> Cummings Park which have been recommended to the Council for appro- <br /> va ➢ . The meeting was then opened to comments from residents : <br /> 1 . "You tell us this is to be a neighborhood park -- why Is there <br /> a league size ball field? What the neighborhood would need <br /> and use more is a tes:nis court" . Buckley noted that there are <br /> • presently 09 tennis courts available to Arden Hills residents, <br /> most available tc the public. <br /> 2. Many residents Indicated concern about poventtat packing <br /> problems in the cut de sac. . . feel it will be abused , will be <br /> a nuisance, do not want parking in the cul de sac. <br /> 3. Use of ControN Data parking lot by league teams wil@ make that <br /> parking lot become a neighborhood nuisance -- how will It be <br /> controlled? <br /> 4 . "Who 1s this park supposed to benefit? if it uses Control <br /> Data parking Got, It will be opened to Shoreview residents and <br /> organized teams, not the neighborhoods. " <br /> 5. What will it cost to maintain this park after it Is in? Will <br /> this be on tha tax rcl ➢ s? Question whether netghbcvhood kids <br /> r, t ➢ Q be able to use it . (Development costs come fr=cm dedicated <br /> funds , rrainTenance from General Fundl . <br /> 6. Parents w M have to drive their young ch ! ldren to the park. <br /> Where w110 they be able to park? <br /> eAt this point , it was noted by McTavish that the larger Industries <br /> have dedicated monies for park development, should be atle to ex- <br /> pect some park service In return, parks are for them as well as <br /> 40 Village residents . ) <br /> 7 . It was understood by residents that Karth Lake is a private <br />
