Self Sustaining Recreation , account 343, Committee would like <br /> explanation of $830 in "Facility Rental " . <br /> 3. Buckley stated that there is no longer any State Aid avaiiabls <br /> for Diseased Tree Program, is recommending it be continued <br /> to assure continued good appearance of Village, and avoid <br /> proliferation of tree diseases . <br /> 4 . Park Fund. Buckley Is recommending expenditure of $37, 350 <br /> In this fund; expenditures planned are primarily those recom- <br /> mended for 1983 in the Ten Year Plan . He recommends Committee <br /> review of the Ten Year Plan during the fall and winter <br /> season . <br /> Plans for expenditures in Cummings Park are not firmed up, <br /> pending completion of parking agreement with Control Data . <br /> Dreyling queried if the legality of Arden Hills ' dedication <br /> requirement had ever been determined . Committee would Bike to <br /> know if they can insist on land or monies, whichever they <br /> desire . <br /> Trails <br /> Trail construction and maintenance was discussed at length . M. <br /> Bergene stated that trails In Chatham area have weeds and thistles <br /> growing in then, wood chips spread Into adjoining lawns causing <br /> lawn mower damage; queried if It would be feasible to ag- time <br /> more of the trails . (Cost of ag-liming trail is approxlmptely <br /> $ 1 .00 per foot, wood chips at present are free . ) Buckley stated <br /> that he had wanted all trails put in so residents and public would <br /> know exactly where they are; wilt pursue a more aggressive mowing <br /> program to keep weeds down . Trails will also be sprayed to <br /> remove weeds and thistles . One corridor In Chatham, running near <br /> residents ' homes, is being considered for ag-ilming, at owners ' <br /> expense, because of their objection to wood chips . Committee con- <br /> curred with this . T . Sather noted that wood chips seem unsightly, <br /> wondered if in the future a permanent, attractive type of uuteria ( , <br /> such as bricks could be used, at least in areas bordering homes <br /> and parks . J . Dreyling asked if Committee should consider setting <br /> up a schedule for gradual ag-liming of all trails . <br /> M. Bergene- requested installation of "No Snowmobiling" and "No <br /> Motorized Vehicles" signs on Chatham area trails . <br /> Report of Subcommittee on Land Acquisition_ <br /> P. Lippert and J . Buckley reported that a 35 acre tract of Land <br /> In the Arsenal , bordering Highway 35w and on west side of P rsena i ,, <br /> may possibly be released for sale, seems suitable for ball <br /> fields . It would probably not be available for development for • <br /> two to three years . Committee requested that Lippert and buckiey <br /> continue to explore possibility of purchasing a portion of it, <br />
