Minutes of Regular Parks and Recreation Committee Meeting <br /> Village of Arden Hills <br /> August 10, 1982 <br /> Village Hall <br /> Call to Order <br /> The meeting was called to order at 7 :35 p .m. by Chair Anderson. <br /> Roll Call <br /> Present: A. Anderson, C. Grudnoske, D. Halve, P. Lippert, <br /> D. Sand, T. Sather <br /> Absent : M. Bergene , J. Dreyling; D. Kostishack, J. McTavish, <br /> M. Olr1on, M. Wild <br /> Also Present : Councilman T . Mulcahy , Parks Director J. T. Buckley <br /> Approval of Minutes° <br /> Motion was made by Y . Lippert, seconded by D. Sand, that the <br /> minutes of July 20 be approved as mailed. Motion carried <br /> unanimously . <br /> Council Report <br /> Councilman Mulcahy reviewed Council actions during the past month <br /> with the Committee. <br /> - Lindey 's Triangle . Mulcahy stated that it appears that the <br /> County is strongly considering returning this land to the <br /> original owner; Council is again drafting a letter to the County, <br /> stating Village 's preference for the land to remain County <br /> property . Mulca`iy suggested Committee consider vbether they felt <br /> it would want the land purchased for Park 's continued use should <br /> it be returned to original owner. <br /> - Trails . Council approved Parks Department purchasing pro-cast <br /> concrete rounds (3 to 5) to mark entrance of trail behind Strauss <br /> and Larsen property , black dirt, and providing soe and labor <br /> to grass in path. . Mulcahy felt it important that the "Parks <br /> Committee come up with a policy for the trails and pathways in <br /> pretty much detail and a policy on whether people can plant on <br /> trails if the trail abuts their property" . <br /> a Council approved lighting piano for Hazelnut Park ; work is proceed- <br /> ✓'� ing. Council approved purchaso cf Toro Grcundemacter, while <br /> expressing considerable: concern &.bout rising maintenance costs <br /> of Village parks . <br /> Mulcahy noted that Congressman Ve+nto had released a news item <br /> re Arsenal land, urging that it be returned to villages when <br /> Federal Government has no further use for it. Motion vus made <br /> by C. Grudnoske , seconded by P. Lippert , that Committee recommend <br /> to Council that a communication be sent to Vento supporting his <br /> position sud stating Village 's iuterest in Arsenal land for <br /> park use ; inclueing information that because of District 621 <br /> School closings , Village is in dire need of additional park space. <br /> Motion carried unanimously . <br />
