Buckley, Parks and Recreation Director <br /> Subject: Indoor and Outdoor Recreation Area <br /> Arsenal Property <br /> -------------------------------------------------------------------------- <br /> The closing of School District facilities has greatly reduced the ,active <br /> recreational facilities available to Arden Hills residents. With the <br /> closing of four schools, the activity areas lost include: <br /> Indoor Areas: <br /> 5 gymnasium areas <br /> 1 swimming pool <br /> Outdoor Areas• <br /> 8 softball fields <br /> 6 football/soccer fields <br /> 1 baseball field <br /> 1 running track <br /> • 4 tennis courts <br /> Every effort must be made to secure new indoor and outdoor recreational <br /> space to compensate for the loss of these school facilities. <br /> Areas needed are: <br /> Indoor <br /> Gymnasium (assembly area - space minimum, 110' x 100' x 20' ) <br /> Area would provide: <br /> 1 regulation-size basketball court or two cross-court areas. <br /> 2 regulation-size volleyball courts. <br /> Multi-purpose activity room (1,200 to 1,600 square feet) <br /> Locker room facilities for men and women. <br /> Kitchen facilities (adjacent to gymnasium and multi-purpose <br /> room). <br /> 2 to 3 smaller class rooms. <br /> Office/storage area. <br /> Outdoor <br /> 12 to 15 acres of land that can be developed into: <br /> 4 - regulation;-size softball fields. <br /> 2 - regulation-size football/soccer fields. <br /> Parking space for 200 to 300 cars. <br /> • <br />
