Parks and Recreation Committee Minutes November 22, 1988 <br /> Page 2 <br /> Council Report <br /> Tom Sather reported: <br /> 7% Park Dedication from American Family Insurance, 3920 Northwoods <br /> Drive. Amount of dedication is $17,934.96. <br /> Twin City Army Ammunition Plant has requested connection to the City <br /> of Arden Hills water and sanitary sewer systems to provide service for <br /> the new Army Reserve Center at Highway 96 and Lexington Avenue. <br /> Council will be discussing this request at its November 28th Council <br /> meeting. <br /> 1989 Council will be Mayor Woodburn, Councilmembers JoAnn Growe, Nancy <br /> Hansen, Paul Malone and Tom Sather. <br /> North Snelling Dark Highway F2TaCiiiK— <br /> Buckley reported that he met with MnDOT Engineer Bruce Kastner regarding <br /> construction of a fence along Highway 10. Mr. Kastner stated that the <br /> State would not be willing to fence the area. Buckley did receive a <br /> letter, dated 11/15/88 from MnDOT District Engineer Kermit McRae, stating <br /> that MnDOT would not construct a protective fence along Highway 10 <br /> right-of-way adjacent to North Snelling Park. <br /> The Committee recommended that a "natural" barrier be considered, before <br /> fencing be done. Plantings, such as Russian Olive, etc. would keep <br /> • youngsters within park boundaries. <br /> Proposed Winter Program <br /> Buckley presented the proposed 1988/89 Winter Program to the Committee. <br /> McClung moved, seconded by Montgomery, that Committee recommends approval <br /> of the 1989 Proposed Winter Program to Council. Motion carried. <br /> December Committee Meeting <br /> There will be no December Parks and Recreation Committee meeting. <br /> 1989 Parks Committee <br /> Buckley mentioned that 1989 Committees will be appointed by Mayor Woodburn <br /> in early January. Individuals interested in serving on the 1989 Parks and <br /> Recreation Committee should let Councilman Sather, Chair Dave Sand or John <br /> Buckley know in early December. <br /> Miscellaneous New Business <br /> Messerly announced that he would be organizing an Arden Hills Bird Club. <br /> The first meeting will be held in January, 1989. <br /> Jim Otto announced his engagement. Marriage will be in Summer of 1989. <br /> The Committee was ecstatic over the announcement and wished Jim a loving, <br /> happy future. <br /> Adjournment <br /> The meeting adjourned at 9:15 p.m. <br /> • JTB/dz <br />
