Public Works Director / City Engineer

SUBJECT: Professional Services Amendment for Shorewood Drive Drainage Improvements

Budgeted Amount: Actual Amount: Funding Source:
$210,000 $234,316.87 PIR & Surface Water

Council Should Consider

Motion to approve, table, or deny the following:

• Professional services extra costs with HR Green in the amount of $2,574.50 for the
Shorewood Drive Drainage Improvements.

All items need a simple majority for action unless otherwise noted.

Background/Discussion

On February 24, 2020, the City Council approved a professional services agreement with HR
Green for the design of the Shorewood Drive Drainage Improvements. This project addressed
flooding concerns at the property of 3203 Shorewood Drive. Improvements included grade
changes to the existing driveway, the addition of a stormwater catch basin and a concrete flume
that discharges to the adjacent channel.

Due to the improvements adjacent to the channel, the Rice Creek Watershed District (RCWD)
required engineering verification that was outside the initial scope of work with HR Green. HR
Green performed the necessary engineering to close out the permit with RCWD. Therefore, an
amendment to professional services (Attachment A) is recommended for approval by City staff.
