With the levies being proposed by surrounding cities for 2023, the most recent estimates show that there will only be 1 city with a lower local tax rate in the county next year. The final tax rates won't be known until March 2023. 2023 preliminary levy amounts and local tax rates are shown in the table below. One area being affected is personnel. Like many businesses, the City is finding it difficult to hire qualified people in its Community Development department. This results in the City having to contract out for services which tends to be more costly. The City has also been allocated American Rescue Plan Funds (ARPA) which it must use or obligate by December 31, 2024. The plan is to apply these funds toward water and sewer capital projects.
