ARDEN HILLS PARKS TRAILS & RECREATION COMMITTEE 4
Mr. Ingram went through a list prepared by his office of issues he sees within the City
parks.
Mr. Ingram provided a map of the process of developing the Master Plan over the next
six or seven months. His office will strive to have a final plan available for review at the
City's 50th anniversary celebration.
Committee Member Crassweller suggested scheduling a work session in April.
Consent was reached to schedule a work session for April 21, 2001 at 9:00 a.m.
Mr. Ingram and the Committee reviewed and discussed the survey flier to be mailed to
residents concerning the parks.
Mr. Ingram indicated he would make the edits to the flier as requested by the Committee
and provide it to Staff for review and Council approval before it is mailed to residents.
DATE/TIME OF NEXT MEETING
By consensus, the next meeting was scheduled for Tuesday, February 27, 2001 at 7:00
p.m. at City Hall.
4PAGENDA ITEMS FOR NEXT MEETING
Discussion of Comprehensive Plan
Making of Signs to Display at Various Locations Throughout the City Concerning
the Parks
Review of Ice Rink Polices and Procedures
OTHER ITEMS FOR DISCUSSION
Committee Member Zilmer stated he has an issue with broomball players using the
skating rinks. The broomball players ask skaters to leave the ice and kids are intimidated.
Ms. Olson indicated the rink in question is not open before 4:30 p.m. so the City can't
control it but her rink attendants know that 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. is community skating
time and no Bethel teams are allowed to practice during that time. Broomball players
need to share the ice as do the hockey and general skaters. There will be times when the
rink attendant doesn't feel comfortable enforcing the rules. She has notified Bethel that
they are not allowed to practice between 4:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. It is a difficult issue to
enforce as it may not be Bethel broomball players but a group of residents who want to
play broomball. She asked Committee Members to let her know of any issues as they
arise and to get names of violators if possible to help determine if the players are from
toBethel or not.
