Floral Park Improvements
Online Survey Results
birds and wildlife that live in this park. Rodents live in decaying wood that the owls feed
on. Please keep the wooded part of the park natural. Owls are a protected species in
the state of Minnesota as well. I would like to speak to someone on what exactly the
plan is for tree removal in Floral Park. Would you be able to take a phone call this week
and talk? Please let me know. Thank you. Trista Snapko 651-230-1273
g. tennis courts
h. Water fountain; scavenger hunts
i. More picnic tables/meeting areas - perhaps by the butterfly garden or in shaded areas.
Only one family at a time can currently use the picnic tables. A separate area for trash
and recycling so that when you sit at the picnic tables, you don't smell trash/dog waste.
Safer and more parking options. More signage since it's difficult to find the hidden
baseball field. Have some of the field be for soccer or have nets just setup for
individual practice. Thanks for asking for input! We love our parks!
j. The pavilion needs major attention. Needs to be upgraded and offer more features. It
would be nice if along the walking paths there are added in fitness stations. Ex: pull up
bar, balance equipment stops. I think if the pavilion gets updated; that you will need to
add in some parking, or allow for both sides of the street to have parking. It's an
amazing park that's incomplete, making it less utilized.
k. We most frequently use the walking path
I. 1 walk at Floral Park everyday sometimes 2x. I love the park. I would appreciate having
the paths resurfaced. I would also love to see the 2 dead oaks removed so that the
small oak trees can grow. The trees are what make Floral Park so beautiful. I also love
spending time in the butterfly garden. So peaceful. Please work to keep Floral a
calming experience with nature.
m. It would be great to have a real washroom instead of a porta potty.
n. Full field house w/bathrooms
o. Larger play structure space with a big kid area and and little kid area. More swings (kids
are always fighting over them)
p. I would like to see regular maintenance of the entire park area. This summer, the
playground area was covered with prickly weeds which made it difficult to use with a
small child. We found ourselves walking to parks further away. The baseball field is also
in rough shape. Also, along the walking trail I would love to see dog poop
stands/trash bins. That would hopefully help with waste issues around the walking
trails.
q. The current slide on playground is dangerous and painful! Water feature would be nice
r. N/A
s. If the basketball court stays in the same location, would love a fence to surround it.
When we play basketball with our kids, balls go into the street which is dangerous with
cars driving by. We are constantly watching for cars because of this safety concern.
v. Remove dead trees and plant new ones. Maintenance of park "as is" is important after
above improvements.
15
