Public Works Director / City Engineer <br />SUBJECT: Public Works Capital Equipment Replacement — 2012 International Plow Truck <br />Budgeted Amount: Actual Amount: Funding Source: <br />$150,000 $180,167.00 Equipment Replacement Fund <br />(2024 CIP) (2025 expense) <br />Council Should Consider <br />Motions to approve, table, or deny the following: <br />• Order the full equipment build out of the 2012 International Plow Truck, Unit 115 for <br />2025 Mack Granite 42FR Single Axle in the estimated amount of $180,167.00. <br />Background/Discussion <br />The 2024 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) includes the purchase of the full equipment build out <br />to replace the 2012 International Plow Wing Truck, Unit 115 (Attachment A). On December 19, <br />2022, City Council approved ordering the replacement cab and chassis in the estimated amount <br />of $143,645.22. At that time, it was also projected that the remaining plow truck equipment build <br />out would amount to $172,500.00, for a total purchase amount of $316,145.22. Since then, <br />Public Works has ordered the 2025 Mack Granite FR42 Single Axle cab and chassis. <br />In order to stay on track for delivery of the full equipment build out in 2025, the vendor <br />Towmaster, is requiring a signature on the quote seen as Attachment A. The quote comes to an <br />estimated total of $180,167.00, which is $7,667.00 higher than what was projected on December <br />19, 2022, and $30,167 higher than the CIP. Towmaster has stated that this is their best estimate <br />for 2025 pricing and are fairly confident that it will hold once the truck arrives. Public Works <br />staff recommends approving the full equipment build out in order to be placed on the production <br />list for a 2025 Mack Granite FR42 Single Axle. This is one of our three large dump trucks used <br />primarily for plowing and de-icing streets. With only three dump trucks in the snow plow fleet, it <br />is imperative that they be dependable during snow events as to provide uninterrupted service to <br />the public. <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />
