ARDEN HILLS PLANNING COMMISSION – December 7, 2022 11 <br /> <br />Commissioner Wicklund hoped that the Commission could communicate to the applicant that if <br />a sign was not placed on the roof system, a third free standing sign would be allowed. <br /> <br />Chair Vijums agreed this should be the case. He suggested the Planning Commission <br />recommend approval of signs 1, 3 and 4 and then recommend denial of sign 2 requesting the <br />applicant to come back with options for sign size, location and design or with consideration of a <br />freestanding sign. <br /> <br />Chair Vijums moved and Commissioner Blilie seconded a motion to recommend approval <br />of Planning Case 22-023 for a Planned Unit Development Amendment at 3565 Pine Tree <br />Drive based on the findings of fact and the submitted plans, as amended by the conditions <br />in the December 7, 2022, report to the Planning Commission adding Condition 4 to read: <br />The Planning Commission recommends approval of signs 1, 3 and 4 and recommends <br />denial of sign 2 due to the location as prohibited under the city code requesting the <br />applicant prepare alternate options for a wall sign that is suited to the size of the building, <br />location, and design that will enhance the area, and be consistent with the architecture of <br />the building, or consideration of a freestanding sign, and Condition 5 to read: Regarding <br />Sign 1, the applicant shall provide a base that extends up the sides of the sign base to meet <br />City Code material design standards is Sign District 4. The motion carried unanimously <br />(6-0). <br /> <br />UNFINISHED AND NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br />None. <br /> <br />REPORTS <br /> <br />A. Report from the City Council <br /> <br />Councilmember Holmes provided the Commission with an update from the City Council. She <br />explained the Council has been working on the 2023 budget and tax levy. She reported th e <br />Council would be holding a Truth in Taxation Hearing on Monday, December 12. She explained <br />the Council would be holding a special workshop on Monday, December 12 to discuss the <br />Lindy’s roundabout. She indicated the Council approved the setback variances for the property <br />on Ridgewood Road. She noted the City had a holiday light map on the City’s website. She <br />thanked all of the Planning Commissioners for their service to the community. She wished <br />everyone a happy holiday and happy new year. <br /> <br />Commissioner Wicklund asked if the Council had an update on TCAAP. He questioned if the <br />JDA chair was up for reappointment. <br /> <br />Councilmember Holmes stated the new City Council would be addressing this matter in 2023. <br />She explained she was uncertain of the JDA chair would be reappointed by the end of the year. <br /> <br />B. Planning Commission Comments and Requests <br /> <br />Chair Vijums thanked Commission Jefferys for her service on the Planning Commission. <br />
