Public Works Director / City Engineer <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Landscaping Maintenance – West of TH-10 <br /> <br /> Budgeted Amount: Actual Amount: Funding Source: <br /> $N/A $N/A $N/A <br /> <br /> <br />Council Should Consider <br /> <br />Council should consider future maintenance of the landscaping west of TH-10 that was installed as <br />part of the MnDOT 2016 reconstruction of the TH-10 and Hwy-96 interchange. <br /> <br />Background/Discussion <br /> <br />As part of the MnDOT 2016 reconstruction of the TH-10 and Hwy-96 interchange, landscaping was <br />installed as shown in Attachment A. Currently, per cooperative agreements with MDOT and <br />Ramsey County, the maintenance of the area shown in Attachment A is as follows: <br /> <br />City Responsibility <br />x Mowing of all turf areas <br />x Maintenance of plantings on the South side of the retaining wall, adjacent to Lakeshore <br />Place <br /> <br />Ramsey County Responsibility <br />x Maintenance of plantings and gardens on the North side of the retaining wall adjacent to <br />Hwy-96 and Old US 10 <br /> <br />Since 2016, the landscaping under Ramsey County responsibility has been reported by residents and <br />has been observed to be in poor condition. There are several trees/plantings that have died, the <br />gardens are not maintained well and consist mainly of weeds. <br /> <br />This topic was raised at the July 18, 2022 Work Session. At that time City Council was interested in <br />having Arden Hills Public Works take over the maintenance of this area from Ramsey County in <br />exchange for the existing plantings in poor condition to be replaced by the County at no cost to the
