2023 Water Distribution Maintenance Plan <br />Hydrant Servicing Area, dead end hydrant flushing citywide. The north servicing area also includes <br />hydrants from Highway 10 to the DMV property along Old Highway 8. Servicing hydrants includes- oiling <br />the top operating nut, nozzle section (where applicable), and nozzle threads/ caps. Checking for proper <br />hydrant operation, flushing the hydrant, inspecting the hydrant flag, and exercising the isolation gate <br />valve. <br />Dead End Hydrant Flushing is complete citywide in conjunction with the hydrant servicing each year. <br />This flushing is necessary to remove stagnant water from the watermain system. The stagnant water <br />can give off an odor and have a discoloration if not flushed annually.
