Public Works Director / City Engineer <br />SUBJECT: Safe Routes To School Grant Agreement for the Mounds View High School Trail <br />Improvement Project <br />Budgeted Amount: Actual Amount: Funding Source: <br />$N/A $N/A N/A <br />Council Should Consider <br />Motions to approve, table, or deny the following: <br />• SRTS Grant Agreement including Resolution 2023-026 for the Mounds View High <br />School Trail Improvements Project <br />Background/ Discussion <br />The City partnered with the Mounds View School District and area residents to identify the safe <br />and continuous route connections to the high school as a priority. The project is not completely <br />funded, and the City submitted a Safe Routes to School (SRTS) grant for funds for the construction <br />of the Mounds View High School Trail Improvement project. On February 14, 2022, City Council <br />adopted Resolution 2022-008 for the Mounds View High School Trail Improvements project <br />identifying the City as the lead agency and assuming operations and maintenance responsibilities <br />for the facility once constructed. On February 24, 2022, the City of Arden Hills was awarded the <br />SRTS grant in an amount up to $450,000. <br />On Thursday May 4, 2023, bids were opened and the apparent low -bid came to a total of <br />$432,544.01 for construction of the trail. Of which, $319,710.35 is eligible to be funded by the <br />SRTS grant. A table of the funding breakdown is provided in the budget section. <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />
